Windows XP Patch for Socket's Dual Serial I/O Card Installation Instructions
To use the Socket Dual I/O Serial Card in a Windows XP operating system (pre SP1), you must install a Microsoft supported fix for Multifunction PCMCIA Cards (XP Patch). The procedures below will walk you through the required steps to install the XP Patch to your Windows XP operating system.
***SPECIAL NOTE***
Only the following revision levels of the Dual I/O cards are compatible with Windows XP:
• 8010-00057 Rev H or above
• 8010-00077 Rev C or above
• 8510-00054 Rev I or above
• 8510-00092 Rev C or above
If you have downloaded or installed the Windows 2000 Dual I/O card driver setup on your Windows XP system proceed with step 1 below. If you have not run any Socket Dual I/O installation setups before on your XP system then proceed directly to step 2.
1.) Dual Serial I/O Uninstall Procedures
These instructions assume that you have run the Windows 2000 setup for the Socket Dual Serial I/O card, or that you have inserted the Dual I/O card and tried to find the best drivers. Before you are able to install the XP Patch, you must first uninstall the Dual I/O Serial Card completely from your system. To uninstall follow these steps:
1. Make sure your computer system is turned on with the Dual Serial I/O card inserted
2. Go to: Start |Control Panel |System |Hardware Tab| Device Manager Button
3. Double click on " Multifunction adapter "
4. Right click on "Generic Multifunction PC-Card"
5. Select Uninstall
6. Click OK
7. Close Control Panel
To remove the installed files if you ran the installation for Windows 2000, go to your Windows Explorer Browser to C:\Windows\inf
Note: This directory is "hidden" by default. To view the directory you have to change the Folder options to: "Show hidden files and folders".
Locate the following files:
SktDioCh.inf
SktDioCh.pnf
SktDioP.inf
SktDioP.Pnf
Select the above files and delete.
Remove the Dual I/O card from your computer system.

3.) Windows XP Patch Installation Procedures
*NOTE: If you already upgraded to Service Pack I or Service Pack II on your Windows XP system, you DO NOT need to apply the following patch as it is included in Service Pack I. (SKIP DOWN TO STEP 4)

Download the following file to your system and run. Click Q318213_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe. Follow the prompts to install the Windows XP Patch.
When finished, "Restart" your computer.
4.) Install Socket Dual Serial I/O Card
The file necessary for installing the Socket Dual Serial I/O Card can be downloaded here. Click DioXP.exe. Unzip the driver files to a desired location. (The default location is C:\ dualioXP)
Plug in the Dual I/O card into your computer. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" will automatically start. Select "Install from a list or specific Locations" Click on Next.
Under " Search for the best driver ", select "Include this location in the Search", type or browse to the loaction of the Dual I/O drivers to the default location or point to the location you had chosen to unzip the drivers to.
Click Next and "Finish" to complete the installation
